Reflection Journal 1
The most difficult part for this assignment is that all the kids are moving so fast and it's really hard to find the moment of interaction in so many people. And because of the strong sun light, I always need to change the aperture when I want to take the photo, which is quite hard because sometimes I just forget to adjust aperture.

Reflection Journal 2
To be honest, I haven't decided my photo story. But what I am thinking about is a group of Japanese American who go to the primary schools and tell their story about being incarcerated during World War II to the students. If I finally decide to work on this story, I will work with Elsie Taniguchi, who is the president of JACL, Puyallup chapter. I will also try to find some people who plays Mah Jongg because I know some of American play that traditional Asian game. I'm also interested in African American community and Muslim community but I don't have any connection with them.

The seething crowd in downtown Seattle on Monday, Jan 18.

Reflection Journal:
Everything was changing when I was taking those photos, the light was changing, the people were moving. So it was really hard to get all the settings correct immediately and I got ton of useless photos in my camera. What I have learnt from this assignment is that I still need to do this kind of practice so I can get everything correct and have enough time to think about the frame of the photo.

Dynamic Light Assignment

(ISO 160, 10 sec, f/16)
The empty alley in Pike Market, Seattle, Jan. 11, 2016. In this photo, I used long shutter speed and really high aperture to make sure all the things are focused.

(ISO 800, 1/50 sec, f/1.7)
The raindrops on the meter of a motorbike after the rain in Pike Market, Seattle, Jan. 11, 2016. I this photo I use long aperture to get the background blurred.

 (ISO 6400, 1/160 sec, f/1.7)
The people walking on the sidewalk of Pike Market, Seattle, Jan. 11, 2016. I raised ISO and low aperture to make sure I can get enough light, and use a relatively fast shutter speed to freeze the motion.

(ISO 160, 8 sec, f/16)
The car and pedestrian in Pike Market, Seattle, Jan. 11, 2016. I used long shutter speed to get the blurred light and pedestrian.

Reflection Journal:
The hardest thing is to find the object I could take the photo. The light was just not "dramatic" enough in those scenes. And the camera itself also limited me a little bit. The ISO 6400 on my camera is just not quite usable because there will be a lot of noise. I would say the most challenging part of the assignment is to find the light, and get comfortable with the light comes through the lens.

Assignment 2

(ISO 6400, 1/60 sec, f/10)
Yiqin Weng, 23, take a deep depth-of-field photo for COM 364 in Suzzallo library, Jan. 8, 2016.All the things in this photo is on focus because of the aperture is raised to f/10.

(ISO 3200, 1/1600 sec, f/1.7)
A car passes the cross of 41th Street and 11th Ave in Northeast Seattle, Jan. 10, 2016. In this photo I use a really high shutter speed to freeze the object, so the details of the car is pretty clear.

(ISO 160, 8 sec, f/16)
The traffic is really busy on I-5 in Seattle at night, Jan. 10, 2016. In this photo, I use tripod to hold the camera for eight seconds. The lights of vehicles make the lines in the photo.

Reflection Journal:
The most challenging part in this assignment is to get the correct setting before I take the photo. When I was doing this assignment, I sometimes needed to take several photo to get the correct aperture and shutter speed. This is okay when  I am doing assignment but may cause some problem if I'm working as a photo journalist. So I still need to work on this problem.

I think I also need to make my photo more interesting, maybe try some different angles to take photo. Those four photos satisfy the requirements of the assignment but maybe I can take some more interesting photos next time.
